Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2025
1) Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to Divsez websites, applications, and related services that link to or reference this policy (the “Service”). By using the Service, you acknowledge that your personal information may be processed as described here.
If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.
2) How Divsez works with shared data
Divsez is built around private sharing. When you create or join a group, the content you add (such as expenses, notes, receipts, and discussion messages) is visible to the group members you choose.
Members may be able to edit or delete group content depending on the features available and the way your group is configured. The Service does not make your expenses public.
Please share only with people you trust. You are responsible for choosing the people you invite and the information you add.
3) Information we collect
- Account information: such as your name, email address, and/or phone number (depending on sign-up and verification options used).
- Profile & settings: preferences, notification settings, and basic profile details you choose to provide.
- Group & expense content: expenses, amounts, currencies, descriptions, dates, categories, splits, settlements you record, and related notes or messages.
- Receipts & attachments: images you upload and any extracted text or metadata created to support features like receipt handling.
- Usage & diagnostics: log data and diagnostics such as feature usage, event timestamps, app version, crash reports, and performance metrics.
- Device & network data: device type, browser, operating system, IP address, and approximate location inferred from IP for security and abuse prevention.
- Support communications: information you share when you contact us (e.g., questions, feedback, or bug reports).
4) How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide the Service (accounts, groups, expenses, balances).
- Maintain and improve performance, reliability, and user experience.
- Protect the Service (detect abuse, spam, fraud, and unauthorized access).
- Communicate with you (service updates, security alerts, support responses).
- Comply with applicable laws, enforce policies, and respond to lawful requests.
Divsez does not sell personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5) Sharing and disclosure
We share information only in the following situations:
- With your group members: content you add is shared with members you invite or accept into the group.
- Service providers: we use trusted vendors to host and operate the Service (for example, cloud hosting, analytics/monitoring, email/SMS delivery, and secure file storage). These providers are required to protect information and use it only to deliver services to us.
- Legal and safety: we may disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the Service.
- Business changes: if Divsez is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections.
6) Security
We take security seriously and use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information (for example, access controls, encryption in transit where supported, and monitoring for suspicious activity).
However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for using secure networks where possible.
7) Accuracy, availability, and reliability
Divsez is intended to help groups organise and communicate shared expenses. The Service relies on user-provided information and supporting technical systems. While we aim for a reliable and accurate experience, records and calculations may not always be complete, current, or error-free.
The Service may experience interruptions, delays, or data loss due to maintenance, updates, technical issues, or external dependencies. We take reasonable steps to reduce disruptions and restore service when issues occur.
8) Cookies and similar technologies
Divsez may use cookies or similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, understand basic usage patterns, and protect the Service.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies, some features may not function as intended.
9) Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service and operate Divsez, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (for example, security, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution).
Because shared expense records involve multiple people, certain shared items may remain visible to other group members even if you delete your account, similar to how deleting an email account does not delete emails from recipients. Where possible, we will de-identify or remove your personal identifiers while preserving group record integrity.
10) Your rights and choices
- Access and correction: you can update your account information in settings (where available) or by contacting us.
- Deletion: you may request account deletion. We may need to verify the request for security.
- Communications: you can opt out of optional messages. Service and security messages may still be sent where necessary.
To make a request, please use our contact form.
11) Children’s privacy
Divsez is not intended for children under 13 (or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
12) International data transfers
Divsez may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including through service providers. We use safeguards designed to protect your information and to ensure it is handled in accordance with this policy.
13) Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and may provide additional notice where appropriate. Continued use of the Service after updates means you accept the revised policy.
14) Contact
For privacy questions, requests, or concerns, please use our contact form.
